Because Bean, the movie, removes a lot of Bean, Rowan Atkinson’s character, and instead fills the time with Peter MacNicol and his problems. Depending on one’s tolerance for bland family comedy-dramas, it might actually play better. I’m trying to imagine how Bean would play to someone unfamiliar with the television show.
